snatam kaur

Snatam Kaur (www.snatamkaur.com), a rising young devotional singer/songwriter, has been enchanting audiences since 2002 with her signature vocals and uplifting presence, selling over 50,000 albums a year and performing to soldout audiences worldwide. Snatam Kaur reaches thousands of people on the Celebrate Peace tour, which is sponsored by Peace Cereal. Her music was heavily influenced by time spent with kirtan master Bhai Hari Singh as well as her father, a manager of The Grateful Dead, who greatly encouraged her musical career and helped her get in front of audiences at an early age. In fact, she performed in front of 70,000 at Earth Day 1990 in San Francisco immediately following Bob Weir. Snatam Kaur, introduced to music and spiritual practice at an early age, was schooled in kirtan and studied from the accomplished ragi (master of Sikh-style kirtan) Bhai Hari Singh in Amritsar, India. She also studied Gurmukhi, the Sanskritbased language of Sikh scriptures from Northern India, as well as received a Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training Certification. These studies have allowed Snatam Kaur to cultivate the devotion and skills that have helped her develop and blossom into a compelling, profound talent.
