Born into a musical family, Peter began his musical training as a child at the Munich Conservatory with the clarinet, but it is with singing that he found his primary means of expression.
Now Peter has stories to sing. Each one expresses what it is to be human and to be on this journey called Life. His music and voice vibrate with compassion and a deep love for all human beings. It is music to listen to, perhaps with eyes closed or with soft candle light. This music can open a door where you can fall deeply inside. Here everything is perfect as it is and we are all blessed.
Peter says of his music: “The voice is an expression of the spirit and like the eyes and the face, the voice is a window to the soul!
“Singing is one of the most direct, simple and effective ways to experience one’s spirit and connectedness to all. The singing that interests me draws me into the sublime, into the sacred that is hidden in a multitude of disguises.”
Peter Makena is a singer/songwriter and a multi instrumentalist
Throughout his musical career Peter played in a number of bands with various styles of music, ranging from Dixieland to Rock’n Roll, from Jazz to Meditation music.
He studied with Sufi teachers the use of the voice in songs, chants and prayer to reach the Unity with God, which is the driving force behind all Sufi practices.
For many years he is leading singing groups and facilitates countless gatherings
To join people in song and prayer and transformed many of such gatherings into
“Meetings of the heart” and “homecomings”.
Peter is touring throughout the US and in Europe at Yoga and Meditation centers,
as well as Music Festivals and Meditation retreats and his Songs of love and truth are being received with appreciation and grateful resonance.
