Bombay Bellywood Live From LA DVD by the Bellydance Superstars offers live footage and new music created especially for the show by Shabaz and by BDSS superstar percussionist Issam Houshan with the Damascus Bellydance Orchestra, recorded in Damascus, Syria.
The Bellydance Superstars have gained an unrivaled reputation for excellence in presenting the ancient art form of Bellydance while pushing the boundaries of the dance to greater and greater heights. For Bombay Bellywood Live From LA DVD, the internationally acclaimed troupe added an array of exciting Indian dance styles, including Bollywood and Bhangra, into their already varied mix of Bellydance styles that range from Egyptian Cabaret to American Tribal styles; hence the show title Bombay Bellywood.
It is fitting that the filming took place in Los Angeles, home of the troupe AND on the 800th performance adding a celebratory aspect to an already super show. As always the BDSS deliver great dance and musical variety, stunning creativity, a multitude of beautiful costumes and the unexpected, leaving the audience always guessing and looking for more.
The addition of the Indian styles brought in two exciting new members to the troupe; Samira, previously a principal performer in the Las Vegas production of “O” and noted Indian dancer and choreographer, Meera. Bombay Bellywood represents the pinnacle of the art of Bellydance today but will also inspire fans of Indian dance— indeed dance enthusiasts of all genres. New music has also been created specially for the show by Shabaz and by BDSS superstar percussionist Issam Houshan with the Damascus Bellydance Orchestra, recorded in Damascus, Syria.
There is no doubt that Bombay Bellywood will further secure their title as claimed by The Sunday Times of London “The most important dance troupe in the world.”
