Vieux Farka Toure's CD Fondo is upbeat African world dance music for yoga dance.
Fondo is the latest CD by Vieux Farka Touré, the fast rising Malian guitarist/singer/songwriter, and the son of the beloved legendary African guitar master Ali Farka Touré. Vieux has fufilled the promise of his father’s musical greatness as evidenced by his own 2006 solo debut, that included recordings that are now considered the last performances of Ali Farka Touré before his passing. Since the release of that self-titled debut, Vieux has shown his natural mastery of the stage and infectious, unique brand of 'koroboro (black African, in his native dialect) rock,' winning over audiences worldwide, touring over 8 months a year.
With Fondo (the Road), Vieux steps confidently into the international spotlight fully in his own right, with an album that features everything from gorgeously haunting African blues to scorching, guitar based rockers and African reggae. By focusing on his formidable guitar skills, Fondo should not only win over world music fans everywhere but should cross over to new audiences hungry for the next great guitar hero.
Expect Vieux to bring his mesmerizing live show around the world in support of Fondo, including an appearance at this year's Bonnaroo festival in June 09 and on to stages from the United States to Europe to Africa.
