A previous CD called The Lama's Chant: Songs of Awakening has developed a definite following since its release in 1996. People were looking for it and didn't even know who or what it was. With this new release on the Real World label, the mystery and search should be over!
Lama Gyurme thrived in the spiritual life in his native Bhutan, starting at age four, and showed an affinity for sacred music which launched a lifetime of devotion. He now directs Tibetan Buddhist centers in Paris and Normandy, & it is his voice that carries the recording.
However, without French pianist Jean-Pierre Rykiel, who was also an integral part of Songs of Awakening, the combination would be less powerful, as he adds an extraordinary touch. Collectively, their Rain Of Blessings: Vajra Chants is serene and elegant, delivered through delicate arrangements of kora, piano & violin which frame the resonant chants.
Here are blessings to purify, heal, protect and liberate, creating a contemplative space to behold the sublime infinite.
